The reason Scotch eggs are called 'Scotch eggs' is a wee bit mysterious. You might expect them to hail from bonnie Scotland, but alas it didnae! It seems nobody kens its true origin. Some say it's because of the Scottish-style sausage used, whilst others reckon it's simply a nod to the Scottish culinary tradition. Maybe someone thought 'Scotch' sounded fancier than 'British.' Whatever the case, these delightful balls of sausage-wrapped egg goodness have become a beloved treat for all us sausage lovers.
